Matteo Tarasco was the first and only Italian directorappointed as a Member of theLINCOLN CENTER THEATER DIRECTORS LAB (New York City),where he worked in 2006and 2007.In December 2006, the President of the Italian Republicawarded him the EUROPEANPERSONALITY FOR THEATER 2005 Award as the best emergingdirector.From 2007 to 2009 he was Guest Director at LAMDA -LONDON ACADEMY OF MUSICAND DRAMATIC ART, for which he directs and adaptsOpinions of a Clown in English,inspired by the novel by Heinrich Boll and The LateMattia Pascal, adaptation of the novel ofthe same name by Luigi Pirandello.From 1999 to 2004 he was Professor at UNIVERSITY OFBOLOGNA - FACULTY OFLETTERS AND PHILOSOPHY - D.A.M.S. - CHAIR OF HISTORYOF MODERN ANDCONTEMPORARY THEATER (Cultore della Materia), forwhich he conducted studies on thetheater of Anton Pavlovic Cechov which resulted inthe publication of the essay Una specialprovidence, (Ed. Trame Perdute, 2004, Bologna).From 1996 to 2002 he was assistant director of GabrieleLavia.In 1999 he signed his first direction at the TeatroStabile in Turin: the complete staging ofGoethe's Elective Affinities in ten shows, with LucaLazzareschi, and Sara D’Amario.In the same year, he directed Cleopatraccia by Alfierifor TST and for the Festival delleColline Torinesi, he adapted and directed The LastConference, an essay by Erwin Goffman,with Luca Lazzareschi.In 2001, I.N.D.A. The National Institute of AncientDrama commissions him to complete thestaging of Homer's Odyssey, an 18-hour show with MonicaGuerritore, Giuseppe Cederna,Lorenzo Lavia and twenty other actors, in ten archaeologicalsites in Syracuse.In 2002, he was Artistic Director of "SOLITARI" televisionprogram of RAISAT, for which hedirected short films inspired by plays: Oedipus bySophocles, Hamlet and Romeo and Julietby Shakespeare, The Death of Danton by Buchner, TheWoman of the Sea by Ibsen andLaclos' Dangerous Liaisons.For the Pirandellian Week Festival - Kaos Award (Agrigento)in 2004 he directed LuigiPirandello's When You Understand the Game.In 2005 he directed William Shakespeare's La BisbeticaDomata, produced by CompagniaLavia, with Tullio Solenghi and a cast of men only,which made its debut at the RomanTheater in Verona, and was then broadcast by RAI2.For TodiArteFestival 2006 he adapted and directedLa Nuit et le Moment by Crébillon Fils,produced by B.I.S. Bideri, with Lorenzo Lavia andSilvia Salvatori.
In 2007 he again directed Tullio Solenghi in Nozze di Figaro, produced by CompagniaLavia.For TodiArteFestival 2007 he directed Simona Marchiniin Storia di una Blackcap,adaptation of the story by Giovanni Verga and created1001 Nights in 1 Night, a show withan international cast of fifty actors of various Europeannationalities.From 2009 to 2011 he collaborated with the NationalAcademy of Costume and Fashion, forwhich he adapted and directed Orlando in Love, freelyinspired by Matteo Maria Boiardo'sOrlando Innamorato; August Strindberg's Dream, atthe Roman Aquarium; A Magic Flute,from the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in collaborationwith the Experimental Center ofCinematography, at the Piccolo Eliseo in Rome.For the Face a Face International Festival, he curatesthe staging of I Greci by Jean-MarieBesset, the national premiere at the Noto Theater(Sr).In 2010 he directed Laura Lattuada in Doesn't hellexist? two stories by Susanna Tamaro, ashow sponsored by the Presidency of the Council ofMinisters, Department of EqualOpportunities, and by Teatro Stabile di Roma.In the summer of 2010 he conducted Mariano Rigilloin Goldoni's Il Burbero Benefico, whichmade its debut at the Borgio Verezzi Festival.In autumn 2010 he directed the Musical La Dolce Diva- Burlesque Show at the OlympicTheater in Rome, with Greg and the American star DirtyMartini.In July 2011 he adapted and directed Alice (Nel asylumof Wonderland) with RominaMondello, of whom he is also set designer and lightdesigner; the show makes its nationalpremiere at the Borgio Verezzi Festival.In July 2012 he directed Laura Lattuada in This Love,from the novel of the same name byRoberto Cotroneo, which made its debut at the Festivaldei Due Mondi in Spoleto.In December 2013 he directed Aimez Vous Brahms?with Maestro Antonio Pappano andGabriele Lavia, for the National Academy of SantaCecilia.In February 2014, he oversaw the adaptation of thescenography and direction of the showEneide - Each Suffering His Own Shadow for ACTL Lazioand Teatri di Pietra, the firstchapter of the TRILOGY OF THE MYTH TO THE FEMALE whichcontinues in the summerof 2015 with Iliade - Le Lacrime di Achille.In September 2014 he is the author and director ofEnrico IV (But maybe not), by LuigiPirandello with Brenno Placido and Federico Lepera,for the Benevento Città SpettacoloFestival.In April 2015, the project Thus Spoke Zarathustra- A show for everyone and for no one, byFriedrich Nietzsche, for which he curates dramaturgyand direction, made his debut inPalermo for the Sensitive Contemporary review.
In August 2016 he writes and directs Baccanti forTeatro dei Calanchi, Pisticci (Mt)In February 2017 he wrote and directed Troiane daEuripide / Seneca / Sartre whichdebuted at the Garibaldi Theater in Enna.In July 2017 he directed Monica Guerritore and AlessioBoni, in Pagliacci by RuggeroLeoncavallo, for the Leoncavallo Festival in MontaltoUffugo (Cs)In August he writes and directs Medee for Teatrodei Calanchi, Pisticci (Mt)The show Jacopo Ortis makes its debut at the TodiFestival, from Ugo Foscolo's "Lastletters of Jacopo Ortis" (adaptation and direction)with Brenno Placido.In the 2017/2018 season he directs La Signora delleCamelie (adaptation and direction)from the novel by Dumas Fils, produced by Gitiesseand Teatro Quirino.In July 2018 the show PENELOPE of which he is theauthor and director made his debut atthe Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.In October 2018 he is the director and adapter ofthe show I FRATELLI KARAMAZOV fromthe novel by Fedor Dostoevskij with Glauco Mauri producedby Compagnia Mauri / Sturnoand Teatro la Pergola di Firenze / Teatro della ToscanaFoundation.In July 2019 the CIRCE show of which he is the authorand director makes his debut at theFestival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.The show ELEKTRAE of which he is the author and directormakes his debut in the TeatroSannitico in Pietrabbondante (Isernia).In October, the PENELOPE show was chosen to representItaly in Greece (Thessalonikiand Athens) in the context of the Focus on ItalianTheater organized by Mibact and theGreek Ministry of Culture.
